Workday - Dunham Massey

Sunday 22 November 2020
09:30 to 15:30

Did you miss our trip to Dunham at the begining of the month? fear not we are back, this for our second visit in a month.

Dunham Massey was home to the Earls of Warrington and then the Earls of Stamford and the deer park covers an area of 192.7 acres and features formal avenues, woodland and parkland. The woodland area has a magnificent collection of ancient trees. Many of the giant oak trees dating back as far as the 17th century Dunham Park also has a history of housing rare insects and fungi in its ancient trees, drawing experts from around the world to research since the 1860s. Having not been to Dunham Massey for sometime before this year, Lead Ranger Craig had asked for our help for the many tasks on his list which involved pond work, footpath maintenance, tree planting, woodland work and fence repairs. When the pandemic hit out shores and everything began to close down in March he was left with a very long list of things to do without our help. At the end of October he unfortunately left Dunham, where he had been on secondment from Styal, leaving behind that list of things to do. Whatever the team at Dunham need doing we hope it will be hard work and fun too!

Meet in the main carpark @ 9.30
