Manchester National Trust Volunteers

We have been visiting Snowdonia for more than 20 years and using the Hendre Isaf basecampo near Betws-y-coed as our base.  In the early years we helped marshall the marathon, but when the NT stopped organising the race in c2015 we have instead had a more usual weekend focussed on conservation work.

Dylan and the other rangers are so welcoming and always appreciate our help.  Tasks have included rhody and gorse bashing, willow and birch clearance and thinning out Christmas trees.  The task for this year? Dylan says “I’m not too sure what we’ll have on the go at that time, but I’m sure there will be plenty of work!!”  Whatever the task is it's bound to be hard work, fun and hopefully we will have blue skies and just maybe some stunning views of the Snowdonia National Park.

Saturday night we have Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings then an evening of Secret Santa presents and silly games.  We usually head home on Sunday late morning, perhaps via Bodnant Gardens or Penrhyn Castle.

Please bring your own bedding (duvet or sleeping bag), your usual work clothes and perhaps something a little special to wear on Saturday night.

The price of this weekend will be £20 plus your £5 Secret Santa!
