This amazing Victorian garden was created by James Bateman. A visit takes you on a global journey from Italy to the pyramids of Egypt, a Victorian vision of China and a re-creation of a Himalayan glen.
The garden features collections of rhododendrons, summer bedding plant displays, a stunning dahlia walk in late summer and the oldest surviving golden larch in Britain. This is a gloriously quirky garden in North Staffordshire is a regular appointment on our Calander

Type of work:
We are now the experts at putting in the stakes for the Dalilah’s in spring, and removing them again in the autumn. We have also done path work here, its’s a mostly flat site, but there are stone steps in the Garden.
If we get the job done quickly there is a chance to wonder round the delightful Garden you might even get an expert guide.
Location:
Google Map
Grange Road, Biddulph, Staffordshire, ST8 7SD
3½ miles south-east of Congleton, 7 miles north of Stoke-on-Trent. Access from A527 (Tunstall to Congleton Road). Entrance on Grange Road
We usually meet in the visitors Carpark on the right by the picnic area – it’s quite small so we can spot each other, we normally arrive before it gets busy.
Public Transport:
The nearest train station is Congleton – there may be a train from Manchester early enough to be picked up for a 10 am start.
Facilities:
There are toilets near the carpark and café. There is often room for our bags in the building. Last spring it was so hot the Rangers supplied us with lots of drinking water.
You probably won’t be far from the facilities here as it’s a small site, and the Dahlia walk is near the entrance.
Usual Meeting Time:
10:00 – please check email for confirmation of the time.
