Below are details of the worksite – but please check the weekly email as these may vary.
A glorious house, surrounded by gardens, moorland and deer park. Lyme Park is a 1,300 acre estate nestling on the edge of the Peak District, Lyme Park was once home to the Legh family and, in its heyday a great sporting estate. It is home to a medieval herd of red and fallow deer and offers fantastic walks and stunning views, but can be quite steep in places.

Type of work:
We work mostly in the Deer Park, chopping tress, removing fences etc. Often in areas with no public access We have also done bird and butterfly surveys and dry-Stone walling.
If working in the Dear Park we recommend measures to reduce the chance of getting ticks. Wear long trousers tucked into socks, and long sleeves. Please check for ticks when you get home and remove with a tick remover.
Location:
There is a ticket booth when you enter the Park, just let them know you are volunteering with MNTV. Follow the road towards the house, park below the house near the visitor’s kiosk.
Public Transport:
There are trains from Manchester to Disley on a Sunday, arriving just before 10am. It’s a 2 mile walk from the station. If you want a lift please contact the leader to see if anyone is able to pick you up and direct you to where the group is working.
Facilities:
There are toilets by the cafe, a short walk from the meeting point but not at the worksites. As with most sites you may be working several minutes’ walk from the carpark. The site can be quite steep.
